Letters and News From Our Troops
January-April Letters
Hello, How are you doing? I hope fine. The weather has been nice lately. Well, we had a sand storm the other day, but still nice. I know it has been a while since I have written. I have been busy. Non-stop since 30 March. My boss and I have been everywhere. we have been very busy on the road visiting the troops and I have not had time to write or I have not had access to a computer. Yes, I have been extended for 3 months like they said on the news. The weather is nice as I stated. I am working a lot and traveling. It makes the time go by quicker. Will write later. God Bless, Gerry
I just wanted to email a quick note to thank you for the two huge boxes of girlscout cookies I received through your organization. The cookies were distributed to all the soldiers in my work area. Everyone loved them. From the letter you included, it sounded like quite a few organizations were involved in getting these cookies to us. Please make sure everyone knows how much we appreciate the time, money, and effort it took to send us the cookies. It means a lot to know that we are supported by people back home. Sincerely, SSG Jean M
Dear Hearts across the Miles, Thank you for the care packages. We greatly appreciate your generosity. I'm a SSgt in the United States Air Force. I am a police officer. I have been in the military for 9 years. I am currently stationed in Iraq for the second time in three years. In the last nine years I have spent over 5 years in the Middle East region. I joined to serve and protect my country so that you could enjoy the freedoms that we do. I have made many sacrifices and endured many priceless memories. Every time I leave the United States, I am proud to represent our country. I wish that you could see some of the amazing things that go on in different countries. It amazes me that we live in the same world. The biggest thing that I have taken from all of my travel is gratitude. I am thankful for everything in my life. Everyday that I awake is a good day. Rainy days, clean air, air conditioning, television stations, playing with my dogs, and the safety in the states are just a few things I am thankful for. Your cookies were shared with all of my coworkers who come from all around the US. It is a great feeling to receive a gift from total strangers who are just showing their support. Your donation is a big moral booster to these young men and women who many just graduated High School last year and are here for the first time. Your gift put a smile on their faces and touched their hearts. I can never thank you enough for your support; it means the world to me. It is that little push that makes me fell proud to do what I do. Thank you. Sincerely, Garry
We received your boxes full of Girl Scout cookies. They were very welcome and appreciated. They remind us of being back home. I would like to thank all of you for your support over the last 6 months. We cannot express how much your packages were welcome. Thank you and Semper Fi, Raul F
On behalf of my entire squadron, I want to say thank you for your tremendous support of the U.S. Military and our mission. We got the Girl Scout Cookies! Now the mission enters the next stage: we eat them, enjoy them, and send back photos to let you see the direct positive impact each of you has made on our Airmen. Already I am witnessing smiles galore and these Airmen are very appreciative of the commitment each of you have made to let them know how much you care. People like you make America a great country and that is why we willingly and happily commit ourselves and families to doing what we do. Pictures will follow. Thanks again and God Bless! Respectfully, THOMAS M, Major, USAF
Dear HATM, I just got 5 huge boxes filled to the brim with girl scout cookies of all kinds. You guys have been so great at sending us stuff and I really would like to thank you for your support. We eat cookies everyday when we are out in operations and I have been sharing with everyone. I'm sorry I take so long to get a response to you, but know that your kind acts are greatly appreciated among dozens of soldiers that benefit from your organization and its generosities. So on behalf of myself and many other soldiers Thank you so much! -Sincerely, Spencer
I just wanted to write you guys a quick letter and thank you for the cookies! I wasn't expecting to receive anything, and when the box showed up everyone was asking who HATM was. They found out when I opened the box to reveal more Girl Scout cookies than I've ever seen in one place! If you've never seen fifteen grown men running for a box of cookies, let me tell you, it's a sight to behold! Needless to say, they were more than a hit, and I want to thank all of you, and especially everyone in troop 951 (thanks for the card, girls!!) for all of your dedication and support. People like you make being in places like this worthwhile! Sincerely, SrA Sean H and all of the guys at this camp in Iraq!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!! We recieved the cookies! Steve
I wanted to send a note along from myself and the members of my Squadron, to thank you for the cookies and goodies in the care packages we received from HATM. We truly appreciate the level of support we receive, and we'll forgive you for ruining our diet plans with the delicious cookies. Please pass along our thanks to all involved in the process, especially the GS troupes that donated the cookies. Thanks again, TSgt Brian N
To those who have taken the time to send us the cookies, I say Thank You! These are not just cookies to us. They are a morale boost. It's like opening a gift and getting something you asked for. It also let's us know that someone cares and is supporting us in what we do. Thanks again! V/R TSgt Carlos M, USAF
Yesterday I received a very large box full of girl scout cookies..Today, I received a second box…(WOW) We handed out almost all of the cookies received yesterday, now we are looking at this new box and wondering how we can distribute them amongst the troops. We all want to thank you very much for your support of the troops, it is very much appreciated. The packages that come in from all over the country is quite unbelievable, we had heard stories prior to arriving here, but its nothing until you see them first hand. We receive donations of all kinds, but of course the girl scout cookies are everyone's favorite. If I only had this many cookies back home, but my wife won't let me..(haha) Again, I just wanted to pass on this thank you from all of us here. Sincerely, Gregory
Thanks to everyone for the cookies. I have Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Canadians here in my little piece of the war. It is nice to be thought of and supported. We are stationed on a Forward Operations Base, that is about 200 yards by 200 yards. My Soldiers do a great job here and we have put up the valentines that were sent. We train Afghan police officers here. Everybody grabbed a box of their favorite kind as soon as I cut the boxes open. I didn't get a picture, sorry. It's dark out now and I don't like drawing attention to us. Thanks again. I am sending a couple pictures of some of us with Afghan kids. We give out lots of candy. Respectfully, 1SG Barry A
I just wanted to thank you for the cookies. If you could also pass that along to the girlscouts and families that threw in on that one it would totally be appreciated! That is alot of cookies, but I think that we will manage seeing as there is alot of us. I was so surprised when I received 2 boxes that registered 40 lbs! And then come to find out that they are one of the best foods ever...... Thank you so much for that. I would really like to send some sort of update at this point with what all is going on here, but to be totally honest. There is really nothing new to report. Most days are the same and all of our excitement comes in our dreams. I should run but I wanted to shoot this out before I managed to forget! Thank you again and have a great day! In Him, Spc. Travis F
I wanted to write and thank you so much for the boxes I received today from Hearts Across The Miles! You sent me two huge boxes of Girl Scout cookies, and they were all distributed throughout the entire building here. We were the most popular section in the building. I greatly appreciate the support that you and all members of this organization provide not only to me, but to all members of the military. It truly means a lot to us when we know that people remember us and are looking out for us, especially when so many basic things we need are not readily available to us here in Iraq. Your kindness and generosity definitely have brightened our day! Again, I wanted to let you know that we all truly appreciate what you do for all of us. Thank you so much! Mark
My goodness how many cookie boxes did you pack up? I couldn't believe the mailroom guy when he showed me all the boxes for us from you guys. We can't thank you enough. I received your e-mail showing the news story about you and the folks donating time and cookies for us. What a great story. You guys are truly heroes to us. We have more cookies than we know what to do with. We have a big chest freezer that we started filling with the thin mints so they won't melt. It's starting to heat up already. I can't begin to thank you for all your support and time you have given to help make it a little more bearable for us over here. Thank you again. I will send along some pictures of everyone grabbing their favorite cookies and chowing down. I'll be in touch thanx again. SFC Greg C
We just received 2 boxes of Girl Scout cookies today, I just want to say thanks you and to the troop that sent the cookies. The soldiers loved them. Please pass along the thanks to everyone that was involved in getting the cookies here.
Thanks again, Christy
