Calling Home to Stay in Touch for the Holidays
Hello. I am a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force, and I am writing on behalf of my Wing Commander. We are on the mission of finding and obtaining AT&T phone cards for the soldiers that we are stationed with. Being able to call home is by far the most beneficial way to keep up the morale of the troops. Our loved ones are constantly on our minds, so to have the ability to keep up on what is happening with them is important to us. As a Chapel staff member, I see a lot of people come to us who want to talk with their spouse or children. We give them phone cards to talk, when we have them. Currently we are running low on phone cards and are looking for help from concerned citizens. If you have the ability to help us in this area we certainly would appreciate it. Thank you very much, SSgt Osten C.
Letters, Pictures, Cards Can Give Encouragement to Our Troops
When putting together a care package for our troops, don't forget to drop in a letter or card of encouragement. Pictures are also a welcome treat. In fact, these items are among the TOP FAVORITE to receive. Schools, church groups, social groups, and individuals are invited to encourage our troops in this way.
For example: - "The card from Olivia is hanging in our company CP. It is truly amazing how little things from home seem to make the time away more bearable. Thank you, Jeff"
- "I read the letters from the children. I did not realize how important to them we were and are. It does make me miss my son a little more, but I know when he gets older he will understand. Do you happen to have an address for any of those school kids? I would like to write their class back. It means a lot to us over here. Morale can get so low. Thanks again, SRA David O."
